Where are the North Dakota protests? The fact that these protestors need to get up at 5 am to show up for a morning rally does not mean that they are not demonstrating. This is one of the problems with our new president; he is impatient and doesn’t wait to take his time before he makes decisions. He simply wants everything done quickly, and if he doesn’t have enough time to make his decision, he doesn’t feel like taking the time. If he didn’t feel like taking the time, he wouldn’t be president.
What activists need to understand is that while this is their rights to make their opinion known, we need to make our right to protest known. Why do I say this? Because at some point, we all started out as protesters. No matter how busy you are, you’re still going to have to get up early and put in the extra effort. What’s going to happen when the president comes down here, that we will have a rally? No one knows if it will actually happen or not. I feel that we can manage to get the President to visit on the weekend to show our appreciation for his support.
I feel it is important to understand that President Obama has worked his way up to the presidency because he takes a lot of time to go see foreign leaders. It’s not like we’ll know if he’ll come, so we should give him a chance to see his administration in action before he visits. Now that we’ve moved past the protests, let’s get back to the protests. We need to focus on the protests instead of the protests.
